Jack Russell Terrier
The Jack Russell Terrier is a small, energetic dog breed from Great Britain.
History
It originated from Great Britain and was created by the priest John Russell. The priest wanted to create a dog to hunt foxes. For this reason this dog should have specific characteristics such as endurance in running, speed, excellent ability of smell for locating prey and courage for attacking it. John Russel crossed many breeds in order to create the Jack Russel Terrier. Today there are two breeds, the Parson Russell Terrier and the Jack Russell Terrier with the main difference in size, the Parson is larger. Although originally bred in England in the mid-1800s, the Jack Russell Terrier was acknowledged as purebred by the Kennel Club of the United Kingdom on January 1, 2016.
The Jack Russell Terrier was previously acknowledged as a "type" rather than a breed because of the great variety of dogs described as the Jack Russell Terrier. The breed model as recognized by the Kennel Club of the United Kingdom has not yet been developed.
Characteristics
Character
In terms of character it has courage and is lively, energetic, active, smart and independent. It is usually in a good psychological state of mind as it has self-confidence and patience. Body type
Usually, its size is stable at a height of 23 to 38 cm and weight from 5 kg to 8 kg. There are 3 types of hair length: short, long and wavy. Its color is white, with reddish, brown marks. (Nowadays, there are jack Russels that have black marks, which came from mixing of the breed, but it´s not the original breed). As a puppy it has a round head, but after growing up its shape is triangular with a small black nose, small V-shaped ears and dark almond-shaped eyes.
